How to Use a Dual-Basket Air Fryer

A dual-basket air fryer can cook two foods at different temperatures and for different lengths of time. Its main advantage is not automatically doubling capacity: it is bringing a main dish and its side to the table together.

Understanding Sync and Match

Names vary by brand, but two functions are common:

• Sync delays the shorter programme so both baskets finish together.
• Match applies the same settings to both baskets for a larger quantity of one food.

Programme both zones before starting synchronisation. If you open one drawer during cooking, check the manual to see whether the other continues or pauses.

Pairing foods successfully

Start with easy combinations: salmon and broccoli, chicken and roast potatoes, or breaded fish and roasted vegetables. Each basket keeps its own setting and separates cooking juices.

Strong-smelling foods stay physically separate, although some models circulate air through the same appliance. Clean both zones after fatty or aromatic foods.

Adjusting time and quantity

The appliance may share its total power between the two zones. Cooking can therefore take a little longer when both baskets run at high heat. Keep food loose in each drawer and shake separately halfway through when needed.

When one basket is enough

For a small serving, one drawer saves space and reduces washing. Use both for a complete meal, separated diets or a quantity that should not be stacked. Match mode is useful for a crowd, provided each basket is shaken on its own.

Choosing a dual-basket model

Compare each drawer’s capacity, usable width, available power in dual-zone mode and footprint. A large total capacity can still mean two narrow baskets that will not fit a tin or joint of meat.
